Our English work is focused around communication – verbally, using signs, symbols, pictures and any way we can. Our topic for the term in Celebrations, so we will be linking with this wherever we can – looking at and making cards and invitations, singing and dancing, making gifts and reading seasonal stories, as we learn about Birthdays, Harvest, Halloween, Bonfire Night and of course Christmas
In maths we will be supporting our Celebrations topic wherever we can, using real-life contexts, such as baking, laying a party table, and sorting, matching and making. We sing lots of number songs and rhymes, and try to develop our understanding of basic number and counting, shape, spatial awareness, the same and different, and or mathematical concepts.
Our Science lessons give us a chance to explore our theme and relate it to what we know about ourselves, the world around us and, and how things change. This means looking at how we celebrate by handling objects such as food, plants and even sparklers, and lots of experiments, making, cooking and cause-and-effect activities.
All about Me. We will be learning about ourselves! We will find out about our bodies, different ways we can move them, things we can do, and sounds and actions we can make
How things change. We will look at changing materials, by heating, cooling, through cookery, by mixing and adding materials together.
Students will learn about the importance of breakfast and lunch throughout the 1 term experience. Not only will students be introduced to the Eatwell plate and understand the importance of healthy eating, They will participate in making some simple dishes while using basic equipment in a safe way.
Our Cubs pack has now been meeting for over twenty-five years, and every Friday it is open to Primary children over the age of eight who wish to attend and join in. We wear our uniform, repeat our promises and play lots of games, and complete fun activities and crafts.
