LATEST UPDATE CORONAVIRUS

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are all safe and well and have been able to enjoy the lovely weather we have had recently. A small number of primary schools in Birmingham now have opened for some primary year groups. As I outlined previously, we are currently planning for this at Wilson Stuart for our lowest-risk Primary students from next Tuesday 9th June, and for our lowest-risk secondary students on Monday 15th June. We have contacted these families and at this time around half of the parents and carers we have spoken to wish that their children return to school.

We have now produced our Covid-Secure Management Plans, that we hope will allow everyone to understand what we will be doing in school. I think these will help to provide clear guidance and a degree of comfort for everyone, they can be found here. We will continue to keep a very close eye on developments and act accordingly. When our staff return to school they will all be having training on how to manage classrooms safely. We are spending this week making changes in school and in classrooms we will be using that will support effective social distancing. We are also drawing up staff rotas and completing our risk assessments, which is a very big job job. We will be starting with very small groups and will be taking a very careful approach. We are also working very closely with our nursing team, and they fully support what we are doing. We will continue to make decisions we consider to the best and safest for everyone in school.

I am hopeful that infection rates will continue to fall and that we will be able to have more students in school before too long. This will depend on all of us continuing to keep to the social distancing rules as I am sure you will understand. If we all behave carefully it will have an impact on minimising the risk of everyone in school. As always, if you have any questions or need help or support, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Keep safe and kind regards,

Steve Hughes
