Literacy
Giraffes will be reading every morning, following the RWI books. There will also be weekly spelling tests on a Friday morning.
We will have regular phonics sessions, working from Set 2 and set 3 sounds. Some pupils will have spelling and grammar sessions in place of phonics.
We are reading the RWI story ‘Sand wizards’ using it to build on our writing kills, focusing on punctuation and grammar.
We are also reading Charlie and the chocolate factory as our class reading book.
Numeracy
Shape, space and measure – Giraffes are focusing on recognising 2d shapes and 3d shapes and their properties. We are also learning about direction and how to read co-ordinates.
Number – We are revising our 2, 5 and 10 times tables and beginning to learn our 3 and 4 times tables. Looking at the four operations and how we can use the inverse to check our answers. Working on estimation and number bonds. Some pupils are also looking at fractions of shapes and amounts.

Computing
Understanding Computers: Learning how to log onto the schools network with their individual logins, to navigate around a computer and understand where to locate different software.
Microsoft Office: Students to learn how to log onto Microsoft Word insert text and use a variety of different functions to edit the information.
Microsoft Office: Students to learn how to log onto Microsoft PowerPoint, insert text, images and how to layout a presentation against a set criteria.
Microsoft Office: Students are to learn how to log onto their email accounts, the importance of communication and how to structure emails.
Block Coding: Students will get the opportunity to learn how to do basic coding, understand what an algorithm is and how to debug simple code.
Multimedia: Students will get the opportunity to learn how to use a variety of devices that take photos. They will learn what a good/bad photo is, how to download them and how to edit them.

IN our SMSC lessons we are focusing on ‘Being me’ and celebrating all the things that make us unique. We will be creating work to showcase what makes us amazing. We will also be focusing on ‘Being safe’ and contributing to a school assembly to show our work.
Food
Students will learn about the importance of breakfast and lunch throughout the 1 term experience. Not only will students be introduced to the Eatwell plate and understand the importance of healthy eating, They will participate in making some simple dishes while using basic equipment in a safe way.
