Finding numbers in a cauldron, measuring broomsticks and magic wands, using shapes to create castles and wizard’s hats, making patterns using spooky creatures and pumpkin hunting.Spring

The Autumn term will see pupils in 3.3 explore all aspects of communication and Literacy whilst following a spooky, magical, autumnal, mystical, Hocus Pocus theme. Looking at key texts: The Princess and the Wizard, Meg and Mog, Room on the Broom and The Magic Muddle. These stories will pave the way for children to build on their communication, reading and writing whilst being engaged in all things Hocus Pocus!Spring

The Autumn term will see pupils in 3.3 explore aspects of Science whilst following a Hocus Pocus theme. Elements of Biology, Chemistry, Enquiry and Physics will be investigated by making spooky slime, creating bubbling potions in cauldrons, mixing their own spells and recording their findings in spell books.Spring
Our theme this term is ‘It’s Showtime!’.
Students will be exploring forces (pushes and pulls) and motion (how things are moving) by observing different circus performers and taking part in a ‘tug or war’ contest with their friends. The students will discuss balance and practice balancing themselves as they walk the “tightrope”. They will be using their senses to describe and make circus snacks such as Popcorn and Candy floss. Students will also explore Circus Show lighting and observe how different colours of light mix together.

Group 1 – Understanding Computers: Learning how to log onto the schools network with their individual logins, to navigate around a computer and understand where to locate different software.
Microsoft Office: Students to learn how to log onto Microsoft Word insert text and use a variety of different functions to edit the information. Students will be shown how to create a document using a title, paragraphs and correct punctuation.
Group 2 – We will improve our access to communication by using a range of equipment to make changes on the computer. Spring
Group 1 – Microsoft Office: Students to learn how to log onto Microsoft PowerPoint, insert text, images and how to layout a presentation against a set criteria. Students will present their work and get the opportunity to edit their presentation after feedback given.
Group 2 – We will improve our use of input devices by exploring a range of SwitchIt and Help Kidz Learn activitiesSummer
Group 1 – Multimedia: Students will get the opportunity to learn how to use a variety of devices that take photos. They will learn what a good/bad photo is, how to download them and how to edit them.
Group 2 – We will continue to use input devices to explore a range of computer games. This will also involve taking turns to play games and giving a sequence of instructions to control a Beebot/Flobot.PE

Students are working on themes across the semi formal curriculum. In food lessons, students will be making their own drinks, cold drinks such as squash, juice, milk shakes and smoothies. Simple snacks like toast and cereal will provide the experience of preparing simple snacks with support.Home Learning Resources
Beyond Words is a charity that provides books and training to support people who find pictures easier to understand than words. Whether supporting somebody with a learning disability or communication difficulty, our resources empower people through pictures.They have a collection of books which are free to download. These include:- Beating the Virus – A short wordless story, that will help people to understand what to do if you have Coronavirus and how to keep yourself and those who you care about safe. The story also shows how to safely help others who may be self-isolating. Supplementary text at the end of the story gives information on where people can seek help if they are unwell and signposts to other useful resources.
- Good Days and Bad Days During Lockdown – A wordless booklet with scenes from existing Beyond Words stories looking at what makes a ‘good day’ and what makes a ‘bad day’.Scenes address social distancing, lockdown, mental health and daily routines.
