Reading/Handwriting focus each morning between 9-9:30

Each Monday morning the sharing of weekend news and spellings takes place

On-going phonics sessions take place across the week. Children are working on Set 1 and Set 2 sounds and the Read Write Inc resource is used.

Each Thursday, students take part in reading activities linked to our story. This can include, sequencing, recognising words and pictures, role play, answering comprehension questions and ordering sentences.

Autumn

Number Focus (Mondays and Tuesdays) Shape Focus (Wednesdays) Using and Applying Focus Fridays)

Number: Rote counting, sequencing, matching numerals to amounts, more and less, estimation, ordinal numbers, adding and subtracting

Shape: Ordering by size, finding the biggest/smallest, recognising 2D and 3D shapes, heavy and light, prepositions

Using and Applying: Recognising obvious errors in a group, identifying the odd one out, sorting by size, type and shape


Spring

Number focus (Mondays and Tuesdays) Shape focus (Wednesdays) Using and Applying focus (Fridays)

Number: Rote counting, recognising numbers, sequencing, matching numerals to amounts, recounting when the amount has been changed, counting backwards, know 1 more and 1 less without practical support

Shape: Recognising 2D/3D shapes, exploring which 3D shapes can roll, shape sorting, recognising shapes within the environment, shape patterns, long and short

Using and Applying: Colour/shape/size/movement patterns

Swimming

In Swimming we are learning: Water Confidence.
The pupils are learning to put there faces ( if possible) in the water and some are blowing bubbles, we are also learning how to “Scoop” our hands when Swimming on our fronts ( tummies) .They are learning to do long arms and pull through the water.

Students will learn about the importance of breakfast and lunch throughout the 1 term experience.  Not only will students be introduced to the Eatwell plate and understand the importance of healthy eating, They will participate in making some simple dishes while using basic equipment in a safe way.
