Executive Headteacher Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is a huge pleasure for me to become the Executive Headteacher of Wilson Stuart School. When I arrived at the school in 2002, I never imagined that I would have the opportunity to lead the school through its next phase of development and 18 years on, the school has progressed so much. The number of staff and pupils has doubled in size, the facilities have expanded considerably, but one thing has never changed – every single aspect of the running of the school is geared towards the students getting the most amazing educational experience possible. My ethos is simple, we will all spend every day of our working lives trying to find new ways to challenge your child to be the best they can be and prepare them effectively for the life they will lead beyond Wilson Stuart.

Over the years, I have had many Wilson Stuart parents tell me that the best years of their child’s life were at the school, but today I will challenge all the staff to improve another area of our work. Every day each student spends at Wilson Stuart must be educational, fulfilling, exciting and engaging, but an equally important factor is that we excel in how we prepare them, their local community and the whole society around us for the next stage of their development. From the moment your child arrives with us, we will be taking them on a learning journey which prepares them as thoroughly as possible for the future.

I look forward to a time when I can get you all in to school to meet you in person and work with you to create a shared vision for the school over the coming years, but in the short term, I will be sending  surveys out to you in order to gauge your opinions on key areas for development. As a staff team, we must target our time and resources so that they lead directly to improvement and we must deliver outstanding provision for all students.

These are very strange times and we have spent many hours in the last month running through a wide range of scenarios to map out how we can get all the students to return. We have now updated the management plans we will be following initially and these will be adjusted on a daily basis over the coming weeks. The plans for return are posted on the website and I would ask you to please read these before your child returns on Thursday 3rd September. If you have any questions or concerns, then please click the link below and fill in the form and we will ensure that we address these in our daily leadership briefings.

We are in a very privileged position to be the current staff team at this truly outstanding school and Wilson Stuart School has been built on ensuring that there is continuous improvement and this will not change. I want every pupil, parent and staff member to be proud of their links with the school, because there is not a prouder person than me as I start on my own journey in this new role.

Better never ends!

Yours faithfully,

Simon Harris – Interim Executive Headteacher
