Wild future competition 2018

During our Science lessons, we were asked to enter the Wild future competition run by the Wildlife trust for Birmingham and the Black country. We were asked to come up with a concept to help reduce plastic pollution within our local community. Our group were shortlisted for the finals at the Mac (Midlands Art Centre), Cannon Hill Park in February 2019.

During the final we had to present our idea to resolve plastic pollution in a dragons den style pitch to 5 prominent judges. We were up against 3 other groups from 2 mainstream schools. The winning team would be given £400 to put their idea in place. We were quite worried about how our presentation would go b ut we were very pleased with the outcome.

Our concept was to purchase reusable silicon straws and reusable plastic cups for all classes in our school in order to reduce the amount of single use plastics we use.

We were awarded 2nd place! The judges were so pleased with our idea that they are also going to secure the money for us to put out idea in place
