11 – 16 year olds
The Secondary Department of the school focuses on two key stage areas; Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Key Stage 3 (Year 7 , Year 8 and Year 9) is typically three years and the purpose is to build a foundation of learning to enable learners for the key stage 4 curriculum. The breadth of the curriculum is wider than at of primary aged children and they are taught by specialist teachers and through specialist facilities.
Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and Year 11) is typically two years. Our Higher ability students transfer into Key stage 4 groups at the beginning of Year 9 to enable them to cover the examination content that is tested at the end of Year 11.
