CP Sport National Table Cricket Finals

It was the CP Sport National Table Cricket Finals on Saturday 2nd December at Edgbaston Cricket Ground where the school team was defending their title from last year.

They came through their group matches against Kings Mill from Yorkshire and Linkage Community Trust from Lincoln with two comfortable wins to put them up against Brimsham Green School from Bristol in the semi finals which turned out to be a very tight match which with three overs to go looked destined to be the first defeat in 31 matches and the end of the competition for Wilson Stuart, but with some strong nerves and excellent fielding and bowling they managed to restrict the opposition to less 20 runs off the remaining 3 overs to make the final.

This put themup against arch rivals Portland College from Mansfield which just like the semi-final which was a very close match in the opening stages with some good fielding and bowling from Portland keeping runs at a premium, in the end after electing to bat first Wilson Stuart posted and very respectable 260 runs mainly due to an excellent piece of batting from captain Jack Ebanks in the second to last over.  Then came a bowling master class from Georgia, Anthony, Joel and Bradley which left Portland requiring more 30 runs per over off the last 2 overs an impossible task which meant Wilson Stuart retained their title for the second successive year and stretched their unbeaten run to an incredible 32 matches stretch back to June 2016.
