On 16th February, the whole school had a fantastic day celebrating Chinese New Year.
All the pupils had the opportunity to participate in a traditional dragon dance. They learnt about how dragons bring good luck to people, therefore the longer the dragon in the dance, the more luck it will bring to everyone. Pupils got involved to move a very long dragon using poles!
We also participated in learning Chinese dancing with ribbons and scarves with a professional Chinese instructor. We enjoyed creating different movements to the music.
Some pupils explored making spring rolls using different types of vegetables. They tasted delicious with some soy sauce.
We also created some lovely Chinese art & crafts by making lanterns and making their own musical instrument e.g. drum.
Ci and Jack from Sixth Form planned a brilliant lesson on Chinese phrases and numbers. They did very well teaching their peers and everyone got to learn something new.
As part of a literacy activity, pupils were inspired to create their own fortune cookies and write their own fortune. Thank you to Councillor Alex Yip for donating fortune cookies for our celebrations. They were wonderful.
Happy New Year all.
