As social media is expanded so are the potential risks. One of the fastest grouping social media apps is ‘Snapchat’ which is a app where you can send a photo or video to someone that lasts only up to 10 seconds before it disappears. Snapchat is used by many our students here at Wilson Stuart School and they have been informed about the potential dangers. Due to Snapchats popularity two further apps have been created which allows people to connect with other people through snapchat. On further investigation, the two apps ‘Yellow’ and ‘Monkey’ could have a potential risk to our students as there has been national cases of inappropriate conversations, invites to video chat and the sending/receiving of images of a sexual nature. Students are free to download these apps with ease as the age verification process is very simple to bypass.
So please monitor your devices and make sure your child does not download either ‘Monkey’ or ‘Yellow’ onto their mobile/portable device.
